    More than 30 years since their founding, Rab are still creating rugged, high-performance, sustainable mountain clothing and equipment that give you absolute protection, comfort and freedom on the hill, crag or peak. Nothing fancy or over-engineered – just honest, hard-working pieces that you’d rather repair than replace. Originating from Sheffield in 1980 out of a professional climber’s spare bedroom, RAB has grown to have the third largest revenues of any of the outdoor brands in the UK market today.

    Rab History

    In a small attic in Sheffield in 1981, it was here that Rab Carrington made the first sleeping bag to bear his name. Word soon spread and the Sheffield attic became a factory floor, creating sleeping bags and jackets for people all over the country. Now decades later, these designs can be found all around the globe. From Himalayan peaks to cold evenings around a campfire.

    With partners, Rab have identified opportunities to develop materials that reduce their environmental impact whilst maintaining performance. Using more recycled fabrics and challenging manufacturing processes are two of the radical steps they took reduce their carbon footprint and in 2020 became a certified Carbon Neutral company.
